Singer and actor Park Yoo Chun has serenaded a song for actress Han Ji Min.

When emcee Jung Ryeo Won asked “Who was more nervous when doing a kiss scene?” the JYJ member replied, “I was really nervous, so I tried to come up with how to make Ji Min feel more nervous.”

Emcee Lee Dong Wook quipped, “I envy you. I won Best Couple with Shin Dong Yeop. Will you serenade for your parter?”

On Lee’s request on the spot, Park covered Yoo Jae Ha’s “Keeping You In My Arm,” which elicited hot responses and applaud from the audience.

Park Yoo Chun made his debut as a singer in 2003, but the JYJ member has managed to conquer the acting world through a number of successful dramas.

But behind every great man, there’s a great woman, so we’re looking back on some of heroines who helped make Park Yoo Chun’s journey to the top a smooth one.

Park Min Young

It takes quite the woman to make a (straight) man fall in love with you when you’re disguised as a man – just ask Park Min Young.

Park Yoo Chun made his official Korean drama debut in KBS’ Sungkyunkwan Scandal, in which he starred opposite Park Min Young, who played his gender bending love interest.

Despite it being Park Yoo Chun’s first Korean drama, the pair’s chemistry on screen was recognized off screen as well, as Park Yoo Chun and Park Min Young went on to receive the Best Couple and Netizens’ Award at the 2010 KBS Drama Awards.

The drama also earned Park Yoo Chun the Best Actor Award and Park Min Young an Excellence Award at the same award show.

Lee Da Hae

The following year, Park Yoo Chun was cast in the MBC drama Miss Ripley opposite actress Lee Da Hae.

We’re not sure how Park Yoo Chun’s character put up with the unpredictable and sometimes unstable Jang Mi Ri, played by Lee Da Hae. There’s something about Mi Ri, we guess.

Park Yoo Chun earned the Best Newcomer Award and Most Popular Actor Award at the MBC Drama Awards in 2011 and 48th Paeksang Arts Awards, respectively for his role, but we think Lee Da Hae deserves some recognition as well for her portrayal of the crazy chick.

Han Ji Min

Park Yoo Chun then took his talents to SBS, where he starred opposite Han Ji Min in the time bending drama Rooftop Prince as a Joseon era crown prince.

Han Ji Min′s sweet, yet strong character proved to be a perfect match for His Royal Highness, past and present.

Again, Park Yoo Chun’s chemistry with his on screen partner Han Ji Min not only won viewers over, it earned the actors numerous awards, including the Outstanding Korean Actor and Korean Actress Awards and the drama a Best Korean Drama Award at the Seoul International Drama Awards as well.

Yun Eun Hye

All of Park Yoo Chun’s leading ladies have certainly helped the actor shine on screen in the past, which leaves us all the more anxious to see how the dynamics between Park Yoo Chun and his co-star, Yun Eun Hye, in the new MBC melodrama I Miss You will play out.

In contrast to both Park Yoo Chun’s and Yun Eun Hye’s previous dramas, the darker tone of I Miss You has also heightened fans’ interest in the actors’ comeback piece.

The drama may be off to a slow start in terms of ratings, but with Park Yoo Chun’s and Yun Eun Hye’s impressive track record in the drama world, we haven’t lost faith just yet.

Which leading lady was your favorite?

Photobucket JYJ‘s Park Yoochun complimented actress Han Ji Min, who he acted with on SBS drama “Rooftop Prince,” for her ‘affinity.’

On KBS 2TV “Entertainment Relay” that aired on Saturday, on the corner called ‘Star On Air,’ she was interviewed, on the set she filmed for advertising.

The reporter said that he gathered what her fellow acting partners thought about Han Ji Min, who has been acting for 10 years. When asked, “What do you think Park Yoochun said?” She replied, “That I eat a lot? Or that I seem like a town noona that he knew for 10 years?”

The reporter replied, “Park Yoochun said that you were ‘the greatest of all time’ and that you have the ‘best affinity.’ He said he knew you for 4 months, but that it seems like you guys have been friends for 10 years.’

Park Yoochun’s popularity in China was revealed earlier by the petition for a fan event but even the drama “Rooftop Prince,” which he starred in, is experiencing surges of fame in China.

Starring Park Yoochun and Han Jimin, the time-traveling drama received a warm welcome in Korea, shown through its high ratings. It’s popularity carried over to China as shown on Youku, a popular Chinese video site. On Youku, it is the third most watched Korean drama of all time and in all genres. The videos have achieved over 88 million views.

The drama is topped by “Temptation of a Wife” and “City Hunter,” based only on the number of view counts. Taking the user-based star ratings into account, “Rooftop Prince” scored a 9.3 out of 10 while the two others were given an 8.1 and 8.6 respectively.

Do you agree with these ratings and statistics? What did you think of “Rooftop Prince”?

[NEWS] 120604 Park Yoochun:

“Kim Jaejoong’s eyes shine…I’m

impressed and envious”

With the successful conclusion of Park Yoochun’s drama and a “goodbye” to viewers, Kim Jaejoong’s character as a “flower boy” police officer in “Dr. Jin” takes the place of Yoochun’s Lee Gak (“Rooftop Prince”) on the TV screen. On the other hand, Kim Junsu recently released his first solo album and is currently taking advantage of a great opportunity as well. It is safe to say that even during these times the members of JYJ are in no way inferior to anyone.

Last month Park Yoochun’s Wed-Thurs drama “Rooftop Prince” ended. Park Yoochun acted as the character Lee Gak. […]
Whether it is a historical, contemporary, comedy or traditional drama…Park Yoochun took on such a diverse mix of genres. For now he has decided to take a break and is considering his next role. On the other hand, fellow member Kim Jaejoong is acting as Kim Kyung Tak in the MBC drama “Dr. Jin.”

When asked of fellow member Jaejoong’s acting, Yoochun responded:
“When I went to South America I saw the Japanese version of “Dr. Jin”. Originally I watched it because I heard that Jaejoong Hyung was going to act in the drama but it turned out to be really interesting. Thus I was in anticipation for Jaejoongie-Hyung’s performance. However (upon watching his performance) because it was such a new character I was flustered and taken aback. (Laugh).”

During the time of the interview, Park Yoochun (who at the time had only been able to see the homepage highlight of “Dr. Jin”) said truthfully of Jaejoong, “When Hyung was starring in SBS’s “Protect the Boss” he also acted as a Director. Because Hyung was able to project a different feeling of a “Director” at that time I was a little envious.”

Furthermore “In terms of acting, I was not able to give any unique tips. It wasn’t in my position to say what would be the proper way to act out or interpret a certain role. However, of course I give suggestions like “What about this?” I think it’s best to let my younger brother Yoohwan and Jaejoongie-Hyung express a character with their own feeling. Thus, because of this I feel it’s not necessary for me to give any tips.

Yet despite this, Yoochun continued “Through video clips, I saw (Jaejoong) Hyung’s sharp image. In “Protect the Boss,” as a Director he was able to give off an intense/strong image as a Director. When I saw that I thought to myself ‘So this is what’s called eyes that shine.’ The extent of just how impressive Jaejoongie-Hyung is can be seen in the fact that though Jaejoongie Hyung is acting in his first historical drama, compared to my first time (acting), it seems “ten-times” better. It is clear that by the end of his drama it will live up to people’s expectations.”

Finally, Park Yoochun responded to a question over the possibility of Jaejoong’s drama being similar to his own by saying “I have not yet been able to see his (Jaejoong’s) drama yet so I’m actually not quite sure if it is similar to mine. Hyung did not talk to me about it to such an extent. Before I filmed Sungkyunkwan Scandal I received practice for three weeks. During that time Hyung also was preparing for a drama as well. Thus, it’s unavoidable that there are similarities. For whatever reason I wanted to use such feeling to surprise people but it seems that our appearances are quite different.”

With such a response one can see Yoochun’s infinite confidence/faith in Kim Jaejoong. I wonder if when he watches Jaejoong’s performance he’d be wearing a big smile.

[NEWS] 120604 JYJ’s Yoochun

Seriously Considered Adopting a

Younger Sister Over the Past

2 Years

On June 4th, JYJ‘s Yoochun was interviewed at a restaurant in Kangnam, in which he shockingly revealed, “I really love daughters. My mother and I seriously considered adopting a younger sister.”

During the start of the interview, Yoochun could not conceal his excitement at the mention of Kim So Hyun, the child actress who played the young Sena on SBS‘s ‘Rooftop Prince‘. Yoochun stated, “She is so cute. I want a younger sister or daughter like her. I really do love daughters.”

Fans were very curious as to how Yoochun and So Hyun have such a close relationship, in which they hold numerous conversations over Twitter, even though they have never had a scene together in ‘Rooftop Prince’. To this, Yoochun explained, “There were many times when our waiting rooms were close by or times when we shared the same waiting room. Therefore, So Hyun and I saw each other a lot . I spent a lot of time with So Hyun because the waiting time [for ‘Rooftop Prince’] was long. So Hyun would come find me first and bring me food to eat and ask to take pictures together. It was really cute”.

Furthermore, Yoochun revealed his past consideration of adopting a younger sister and stated, ”Whenever I went to welfare buildings or shelters for children to volunteer or make a donation, I was heartbroken when I saw the children. I also have memories of when I went through a difficult period because I lived away from my family, but I feel like those children must be having a much more difficult time. I wanted to give someone as much love as I can, which is why I considered adoption for the past two years. It was a serious dilemma for me.”

The interviewer stated that Yoochun’s smiling face turned serious in an instant when he discussed the reason for not following through with the adoption. Yoochun stated, “I felt that a celebrity is a profession in which you cannot give all your love to one person. I gave up the decision to adopt because I felt like it would be an irresponsible act.”

Subsequently after discussing the topic of marriage with Yoochun, the interviewer wrote, “He is giving much thought about marriage, which is why I think he said that he will publicly reveal his relationship if he starts to date this time. With dating and marriage in mind, Yoochun wants to meet her in a sincere manner. He doesn’t have a concrete plan set for marriage, but his face brightened as soon as he began to fantasize about having a daughter.”

Yoochun said, “I really love daughters. I fantasize about having a loving family. When I marry I think I will be able to have a daughter like So Hyun. At the minimum, I think there is a 70% chance that I will have a pretty daughter. If she’s my daughter, she’ll definitely be pretty,” causing himself to laugh.

Dreams of Going to Cannes with

Park Yoohwan

Park Yoo Chun said he dreams of walking the red carpet of Cannes with his brother Park Yoo Hwan in a recent interview with enews.

To a question asking whether he has anything he dreams of doing, he answered, “I want to go to the Cannes Film Festival with [Park] Yoo Hwan. This is my next goal for now.”

The two have already walked red carpets in Korea together for the 2011 MBC Drama Awards held on December 30, 2011 and the Paeksang Arts Awards held in April 2012.

Park Yoo Chun said, “Even if it’s for different pieces, if we get a chance to go I hope we’ll get to stand on the red carpet of Cannes together. We went together for the Paeksang Arts Awards, and that felt great. I was so proud that we brothers were sitting at the same table. I hope we can take a lot of pictures at Cannes.”

He then added, “Yoo Hwan is better at English than I am. I think I’ll be able to use my brother as an interpreter. (Laugh)”

Park Yoo Chun recently gathered much popularity for his Crown Prince Lee Gak role in SBS’ Rooftop Prince.

I hope your dream gonna be came true someday ^^.

[NEWS] 120604 Park Yoochun “I

feel comforted by acting the role

Lee Gak…Tears already gushed

from my eyes while rehearsing for

the ending scene.”

“After reading the script for 19th and 20th episode, I have expected the drama would be ranked first in viewer ratings.”

Park Yoochun (27) has acted the role of Josun Crown Prince ‘Lee Gak’ in SBS drama ‘Rooftop Prince’ which claimed the first place in ratings and surpassed other dramas in the same time plot in the close battle of Wed-Thurs dramas. As a member of the group JYJ, after ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ and ‘Miss Ripley’ followed by his third time he appeared in drama, he has proved that not only he has singing and dancing skills but he also possesses an acting ability that is deemed perfect for a well-prepared ‘Acting-dol’.

In the latest interview took place at Euljiro Seoul, Park Yoochun talked about the lingering feelings for the drama after it has ended “It is good that I was absorded in the role ‘Lee Gak’. I have an attachment for this drama more than any other one before and it made my heart feel at ease. The atmosphere between the staff and actors is the best. It was the first time I had such a good time while filming for a drama.”

When the filming has just begun, Park Yoochun’s father passed away and it was the hardest time he has ever gone through but somehow, though the comic act in the drama, his sorrow was eased. “Acting becomes my console so the more I was immersed in acting, the more I feel comforted. As I fell more and more in my role, I felt comforted through that character”. Except for the time he was in tears while being in his car after spending all night shooting for the drama, tears from his personal sad story can never be seen on his face.

He said he liked the last scene in episode 19 the most. Ever since he received the script, it has become his favorite part. It is the scene where Lee Gak and Park Ha bid farewell at their wedding as Lee Gak gradually dissapears and returns to the Josun era. “I was already in tears when rehearsing for the scene. The staff and the director also cried. I feel proud that I have acted with all my heart and the feeling of separation from each other strucked me too. Even though it was filmed in a rush, I felt satisfied.”

Also, he smiled and said “My hand was supposed to fade away first while I was wiping tears on Park Ha’s face but when I watched the broadcast, my body vanished first so I was a bit confused. The hand should be the last part to fade away.”

Photobucket Photobucket

It was only the third time Park Yoochun acted in drama. Before his first drama ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’, a 3-week acting class was all he took to study acting. His first debut in acting received more attention than expected. Because of the burden and pressure to show another different side from his previous drama, in the middle of shooting for the second drama ‘Miss Ripley’, he has even thought of giving up. However, in his third drama, he can naturally add his own ad-libs while acting. He still felt regret and said “While reading my lines, I also practiced the action that would match the lines so my acting became more natural. But whenever I made eye contact with Sukwon hyung ( Jung Sukwon who acts the role ‘Yongsul’), there would be lots of NG, a lot of my ad-libs were not broadcasted too”.

Furthermore, “Acting as Yong Taeyong who is in a coma at the hospital was very hard. I used to have interest in medical drama but it seems that I won’t be able to do well in it. Acting as if the pupils of my eyes don’t focus on anything was really hard because I must not blink at all and keep my eyes open all the time. At first, I kept bugging “Should I just close my eyes…”. After that, he joked “At the beginning, as I must use a long wig for the role Lee Gak, it was so uncomfortable but just when I started feeling that this wig fit me so perfectly, I had to take it off.”

Park Yoochun’s younger brother also follows him to become an actor and JYJ’s Jaejoong is currently acting in MBC fusion historical drama ‘Dr.Jin’ too, but because Park Yoochun was so busy, he didn’t have free time to monitor at all. He said “At home, I came accross Yoohwan’s drama (MBC daily drama ‘I can’t live without you’) accidentally and watched its last 10 minutes. As Yoohwan’s face was shown at the ending, I showed my interest by telling him that I saw him appeared at the ending. I am not a type that would gives special advices, nor did i think that I did better than him because I started acting ealier”. About Kim Jaejoong’s acting, he complimented “I only got to watch the 30-second highlight but just like in ‘Protect the boss’, he delivered strong feelings perfectly. I only heard him saying one word but I think he got the tone well.”

He said “As wandering around is bothersome to me, when we went to South America for our concert, while those two (Kim Jaejoong, Kim Junsu) were wandering around, I stayed in my hotel room and watched the Japanese version of ‘Dr.Jin’. At that time, I didn’t know Jaejoong would take which role in it.”

Photobucket Photobucket

Due to the naturally intimate chemistry between Park Yoochun and the female lead Han Jimin who acted as Park Ha, the viewers start questioning and wonder ‘Are these two really not dating each other?’. When talking about this, he said he is always thankful for Han Jimin’s kindness “Jimin noona is like a noona-next-door to me. Her personality is bubbly and bright so it’s more comfortable to be a dongsaeng.I feel like we have known each other for a really long time.”

Park Yoochun is spending his birthday on June 4 in Bali, Indonesia for a photoshoot. Because of the schedule such as JYJ’s overseas concert etc, he doesn’t remember the last time he spent his birthday in Korea. He is planning to take a break after finishing all the schedules including fansign events etc.

[NEWS] JYJ’s Yoochun Opens up

about Sasaeng Fans

JYJ’s Yoochun shared his honest feelings about sasaeng fans in a recent interview with TV Report. The singer/actor that successfully wrapped up his latest drama, “Rooftop Prince,” started off by saying, “Sasaengs are one part of the fans, but it’s hard to understand them anymore.”

“I was able to get to this point because of the fans that supported me for such a long time, with the heart of a mom. Obviously, there have been other types of fans, too. To be honest with you, I don’t think they (sasaengs) are true fans. I’ve tried to understand and accept them as part of the fandom, but it’s been like that for eight years already. Now it’s just too hard to understand them. People tell me it’s part of being a celebrity, and that might be right. But it’s not as easy as you think,” he said.

“But in order to return the love to all the fans that have always supported me, I’m going to do my best to come up with good music, good acting, and a hardworking attitude. Also, I would like to say thank you for always showing love to me,” he added.

Meanwhile, Yoochun’s latest TV drama “Rooftop Prince” aired its finale on May 24, with the best TV ratings among other competitors. He played the dual role of Lee Gak and Yong Tae Yong for the time traveling fantasy drama, creating good chemistry with his female counterpart, Han Ji Min.

i also never considered sasaeng as a fans because for me they are more like a criminal who disguise themselves as fans. If Korean society, the parents and government keep have some less concerned about this matter then someday the suicide level from the celebs maybe gonna be more increased. I believe that sasaeng matter also became one of supporting factors for the suicide act for the idol

It’s okay if you love and wanna close with your favorite artist/idol but you are also need understand and knew that these celebrities also have their own lives, they are also a human being who need some rest, meet and play with their own friends, spare their break time with the people who that they loved such families. There are a line about their public activities as a celeb that you can enter and the private lives which that definitely forbidden for you to enter.

Shares Thoughts About Possibly

Dating Han Ji Min

“If it’s a girl like Han Ji Min, I don’t think I will receive negative comments even if I decide to publicly date her.” This was what JYJ’s Park Yoo Chun stated during a recent interview about his fellow co-star Han Ji Min from the recently ended drama, “Rooftop Prince.”

Prior to this interview, Han Ji Min stated in her own interview, “Yoochun worked so hard that I felt guilty for viewing him with prejudiced eyes since he was originally a singer. He is an actor with one of the best work ethics.” Likewise, Yoochun did not hold back with his praise for Han Ji Min.

He said, “Since she is so easy-going, it was very comfortable to act with her. Even kiss scenes weren’t that hard. We spent four months filming this drama and it seemed like I knew her for over ten years. That’s how comfortable she was to me. When she was Park Ha, I wanted to hug her but when she came back to herself as Ji Min nuna, she was the one who took care of me. She always laughed harder and cried harder at my parts. She always pulled me forward.”

The interviewer asked Yoochun, “Have you ever viewed Han Ji Min as a woman you’d like to date?” He laughed as he answered, “Not at all. But honestly, even I can see how we would fit together very well. That’s the reaction of the viewers as well. I even thought, ‘If I date this kind of person publicly, people would actually like it and cheer for it’ since everyone kept saying we looked good together.”

Finally, the interviewer said, “Han Ji Min once said that she couldn’t imagine a singing Park Yoo Chun.” Then Yoochun replied, “I’ve heard that too. It was unexpected. I’ve never thought of myself that way. So for a moment, I was blank. Whether I am engaged as a singer or an actor, I focus on each part of myself at that certain time. Anyhow, the steps have been laid out so I really hope that our music and appearance on broadcast will be able to happen soon.”

[NEWS] ‘Come To Play’

inexplicably edits out all Park

Yoochun related stories

MBC ‘Come To Play’ production team’s decision to edit out all of actress Kim So Hyun‘s story about actor Park Yoochun is being heavily criticized by the viewers.

MBC had announced through its press release on the 4th that the friendship stories of Kim So Hyun and Park Yoochun would be told on the upcoming episode of ‘Come To Play’. However on the broadcast the story of Park Yoochun was nowhere to be found.

According to the press release, Kim So Hyun spoke about Park Yoochun whom she has met through the drama ‘Rooftop Prince’, “Yoochun oppa calls me with the cheesiest names when he sends me texts.” Kim So Hyun revealed that Park Yoochun calls her ‘Princess’ and all the female guests were envious of her.

Kim So Hyun took the issue onto her twitter page, “What is this? I wonder why they’ve edited out all of (Park) Yoochun oppa’s story on the program. I wanted to tell many fun stories about Yoochun oppa… the last moments of my birthday feels bitter.”

Kim So Hyun did the next best thing and told the story herself, “It was the first time I met Yoochun oppa, he came out of the green room wearing a red training suit and a white sleeveless shirt while scratching his belly. Huk! Momentarily shocked. I found my ideal type. He looked cool even then. ‘Come To Play’ follow-up”, and she revealed the story she told on the program.

After ‘Come To Play’ had aired many viewers expressed displeasure on MBC’s viewers’ board about the decision to edit out Park Yoochun’s story even though had they announced before the broadcast that his story would be told.

[NEWS] 120605 ‘Come to Play’

clarifies rumors about JYJ’s

Yoochun and editing

Recently, MBC‘s talk program ‘Come to Play‘ came under fire for cutting out a segment that mentioned JYJ‘s Yoochun.

The issue started when one of the guests, Kim So Hyun, posted her feelings about the broadcast on Twitter: “What is this? Why were Yoochun oppa’s parts all cut out?”

The viewers were left even more confused as the press release for the episode, released prior to broadcast, had indicated that Yoochun’s stories would indeed be featured on the episode. However, when it was actually aired, no mention of the JYJ member took place.

In a response to the questions and rumors surrounding the editing, the producers of ‘Come to Play’ released a clarification, saying, “There wasn’t a particular reason such as outside pressure. Since there were six guests with several different stories, a few of them were edited out.”

“There wasn’t much material concerning Park Yoochun during the taping,” they continued. “The talk was left out due to filming and editing issues. It is our mistake that it was included in the press release but wasn’t broadcast.”

Park Yoo Chun said, “When we first came in for a test shoot, Ji Min nuna was exhausted because it hadn’t been long since she had wrapped up her previous piece. Thankfully, we were to shoot together with the three subjects, so our first shoot wasn’t too awkward.”

He then added, “That’s how we first met, and because Ji Min nuna has a laid back personality that would make anyone comfortable, we later became so close that she asked me, ‘You feel really comfortable around me, don’t you?’ Acting together with such a relationship let us build great teamwork which helped us put together scenes easily with just one or two tries.”

“Ji Min nuna gave me a lot of help as a senior in acting,” he also said. “For example, when I needed to talk something over with the director, she was the one that helped us find time to see each other. I was thankful for a lot of different things.”

Perhaps because of all the help he had received, Park Yoo Chun said about Han Ji Min, “She’s an actress that can bring on a synergy effect with any actor she acts with.”

He said, “I think I met a great person. I believe I was fortunate in Rooftop Prince that I was able to meet such great colleagues, and it was like I got a great present when I met such a great partner as Han Ji Min.”

The couple’s teamwork pulled Rooftop Prince up to the top for its last episode, helping the drama win the final three-way drama battle.
